Hello, my name is Sebastian, and I am the coordinator for the UNM Esports Call of Duty team. I want to create a competitive environment for Call of Duty and reach as many people as I can with this game I love so much. This semester, we are playing Call of Duty Black Ops 7 and were able to get into the CCL. Competitive Call of Duty is best of 5 series, with each game being a different mode such as Hardpoint (King of the Hill), Search and Destroy (Bomb defuse), and Overload (Capture the Flag), in that order. We hope to see more people interested in CoD this upcoming semester with the release of Modern Warfare 4! Some fun facts about me are that I play on a PlayStation 4 controller, I like anime, and I like cats.
Please support Call of Duty on our UNM Esports donation page!
Deadlock is a MOBA, hero shooter, currently in closed alpha. It being actively developed by Valve. In Deadlock, 12 players are put into two teams of 6. These teams must work together to collect souls, push into the opposing teams base and destroy their patron. In order to do this the players can spend the souls they gain on powerful items which can turn the tide of fights. Additionally, each of the 12 players takes the role of one of the over 30 heroes each with unique abilities, weapons, and play styles.
Jay Megill is the coordinator for the Deadlock team and also a returning player for the TF2 team. He is a Computer Science student at UNM in their senior year. He spends a lot of his free time playing video games, but also enjoys programming as well as board and card games, and dancing. Jay is currently the Coordinator for the UNM Esports Deadlock team. They have been playing Deadlock since early 2024, and was active player in the UNM Esports deadlock team in that same year. While not a master by any means, he is still actively working to improve.
Jay joined the UNM Esports club back in Fall 2023 to play in the TF2 team. He then joined the Deadlock team when it was started 2024, and stepped up to coordinate the team when the previous coordinator stepped down.
"Halo Infinite" is a 2021 first-person shooter video game that includes an open-world campaign and a free-to-play multiplayer experience. Developed by 343 Industries/Halo Studios, it follows the Master Chief as he fights the Banished on the Forerunner ringworld Zeta Halo.
Sky Meehan is the Content Creator Officer and Halo Coordinator, and does stuff with Production, Social Media, and Events (Sky is the goat for all the Tryout Graphics since they joined the club). They are a Secondary Education Major Student, with a degree in Associative arts in Film. Sky is connected to Halo in more ways than one, from being introduced to it by their brother at the age of 4, and continuing to play it since. Sky and Halo are the same age (25), and continue to have the connection of family and brotherhood that not a lot of people have with Halo.
When Sky joined UNM Esports, they were still finishing up their film degree at CNM. But when Sky finally transferred over, they joined different parts of the club, Social Media, Production, Events, and even the Halo Team, spearheading the new Halo Team after its absence from the Club.
Rocket League is a high-octane ‘soccar’ game developed by Psyonix. Players take control of customizable rocket-powered cars and compete to outscore their opponents by hitting a giant ball into the opposing goal. Known for its easy-to-pick-up gameplay, dazzling mechanical skill ceiling, and hype esports scene, Rocket League has become a large competitive title worldwide. From casual play with friends to pro-level tournaments, the game offers nonstop excitement for players of all skill levels.
Matthew “achilles.” is the Rocket League Coordinator and a 3rd-year Computer Engineering student. Growing up, he played basketball and soccer his whole life, but only got into Rocket League because of his friends. What started as casual fun turned into a 5,000-hour passion, and now he competes at the highest levels of the game.
Achilles plays Rocket League on keyboard and mouse—an impractical setup that makes his skill stand out even more. He is ranked Grand Champion 3, reached top 7,000 in the world, competed with and against many professional players, and even placed Top 8 in the NRG x Carvana Combine.
Beyond competition, Achilles brings his dedication and leadership to UNM Esports as a coordinator, helping organize and grow the Rocket League community. Whether it’s on the field, in the game, or supporting his team, he is always striving to push the boundaries of what’s possible.
Braxton is the current co-coordinator of Rocket League. Braxton was born in the state of Georgia but grew up here in New Mexico. He moved before he was even a year old, so New Mexico is really the only home he’s ever known. As a kid, he spent most of his free time playing soccer and video games. This of course, naturally led to him taking a liking to a game like Rocket League, a combination of his two biggest hobbies. Braxton graduated from Eldorado High School in 2019, (Go Eagles!) after which he decided to wait a year before starting college. This decision unfortunately led to his first semester coinciding with a global pandemic. Braxton ended up pushing off college until Spring 2025, when he finally began attending UNM with big plans to later go on to Law School. Outside of school and Rocket League, Braxton enjoys jogging in the foothills of the Sandias, snowboarding in the winter, and playing scary games with friends. During the school year, Braxton helps hold together the amazing Rocket League program here at UNM Esports and is always happy to lend a helping hand whenever he’s needed. Here’s what some members of the community had to say about him:
“A consistent and levelheaded person who is somehow the personality hire and high performer at the same time”
-Gabe (guppo), UNM Esports Rocket League Player
“Part time goofball, fulltime soccar wrecking crew"
-George (Death 0_0), UNM Esports Rocket League Player
“I think he scares me with how good he is at car games especially when a ball is involved”
-Tim (timsucatgames), UNM Esports President
“The greatest unc who has ever touched a video game”
-Matthew (achilles.), UNM Esports Rocket League Coordinator
