Timothy Morlock serves as the President of UNM Esports, where he leads efforts to foster a thriving and inclusive gaming community at the UNM. When Timothy joined the organization, he focused on expanding presence on campus, strengthening local partnerships, and provided new opportunities for students to engage in both competitive and casual gaming for all students.
Dedicated to elevating UNM Esports toward varsity recognition, Timothy focuses on developing student leadership, coordinating large-scale events, and building connections with sponsors and university departments. His commitment to collaboration, innovation, and student engagement continues to define UNM Esports as one of the university’s most dynamic student organizations.
“Since I took the position in January 2025, it has been one of the most exciting and fun experiences of my life. Every day I am able to learn about the esports world in a unique way that almost nobody else across the country experiences. We have some super exciting things in the works from cool events, strong competitive teams and a great experience to provide for students, I am excited to see what UNM Esports does as an organization.”
VP of Events: The main person you go to when you have an idea for an event within the Esports organization. With multiple future events coming soon. Some fun things we have done in the past are Karaoke nights, watch parties, themed game nights, and more.
Jazmine Maldonado is the VP of Events and helps out with other areas within the club. She is a Dance Major with a concentration in Contemporary Dance. As someone who moved around the majority of her life, she had grown up around different cultures. One of the most notable places she has lived in is Japan, where she graduated from High school. Even though she is a prominent member of UNM Esports, she still does other things around campus. You can see her mostly at the dance studios, working on different pieces for her art. But she also plays a lot of other games in her free time. Some of her favorite games are MMORPGs and solo story games, like Star Wars The Old Republic, and Elden Ring Nightreign. If not playing those games, she is also most likely playing DND friends. Also, she is really good at claw machine games.
Co-Coordinator, Overwatch: Jazmine Maldonado is a co-coordinator for UNM's Overwatch Teams. She helps the teams find scrims, tournaments, and matches to play in. She is a support player, playing Lucio, Kiriko, and Juno. She is a Dance Major with a concentration in Contemporary Dance.
Ben Billa is the Sponsor Relations Officer, but no one calls him that, so if you ask him his job he will just say “the sponsor guy”. He is a chemical engineering major at UNM and has way too much Thermodynamics homework even though it’s his favorite class. He is most likely the only person in a 500-foot radius to be from Mississippi at any given time. Unfortunately, he is a smash player and ranked top 100 in New Mexico. He is also a member of the Guilty Gear Stive team and is the second worst Chipp player on the team. His favorite games are fighting games. The fighting games he is currently playing are: Guilty Gear Strive, Tekken 8, Street Fighter 6, Fatal Fury City of the Wolves, and many more. His favorite non-fighting games are Cyberpunk 2077, Halo 2, and the first Insomniac Spider-Man game. Ben joined UNM Esports to get on the smash team and get better at Super Smash Bros. He did not do so, he ran for funding officer as a joke and got beaten out by someone with actual experience. Then he got put in-charge of sponsorships because no wanted it. Now he manages all of the sponsorships for the club and so far, has not gotten fired, maybe that means he is doing a good job.
If you have contacts or ideas for sponsors just talk to me about them. If you need me to stop being a masher, you can forget about it. And if you need someone who can tell you Lebron James’ 2013 3pt percentage, I’m your guy.
HR Officer Sami has an intro? Who woulda thunk it.
Guilty Gear -Strive-, an anime fighter of peak gameplay and questionable game balance. It’s the most recent installment in the Guilty Gear series, a series with such good but convoluted lore it’d be foolish to try and explain here. It also has, quite possibly, the best video game character ever created, Bridget! Bridget is a yo-yo slinging bounty hunter with interesting movement that’s great at making your opponent have to guess what you're gonna do. Team Fortress 2, or TF2, is an FPS game that came out in 2007 (damn). It has 9 distinct classes each with a personality all their own. The game is a genuine cultural phenomenon and if you haven’t heard about it and are an active gamer then I’m going to assume you’re lying about one of those two things.
Sami Aragon Roybal is a first year student at UNM who became instantly enamored with the Esports club when she first saw it. An avid gamer her whole life she had a feeling she would like the club and decided to give it a shot. When elections were happening at the first meeting, Sami decided to run for HR officer having a feeling no one else would and, wanting to help the team, decided she might as well take the role. Now she also is on both the Guilty Gear and TF2 teams and loves getting to know the other members of the club and the other members of her teams. As a psychology student and hopefully one day psychiatrist, Sami hope to make the HR position more welcoming then it might be at a company and hopes that she can help make the club feel safe for all its members!
Zamari “Zia” Ross is the VP of Outgoing Communications, handling the club’s social media pages, approving ideas to put on the UNM Esports socials, and attending tabling events to get the word out about the club. She is an undergraduate student at UNM, studying Film and Animation. She loves anime, music, and also likes to dabble in a bit of Theatre, both the normal and musical kind. She’s also learning Japanese, having completed Japanese I-IV so far. She’s made the Dean’s List every semester she’s been at UNM!
Zamari was born and raised in central Texas, but coming to Albuquerque for college has been a great opportunity for her. She’s had a pencil in her hand since she was born, finding every opportunity to draw. Many original characters live inside her head because of that. In middle school, she joined the theatre classes and found a love for that as well. She’s been trying to animate ever since she downloaded Flipaclip onto her iPod Touch, but it’s hard to teach yourself a skill like that. That’s why she came to UNM as an Animation major, under the Film and Digital Arts department. Now she specializes in art and 3D animation, but she’d like to continue to hone her 2D animation skills.
Alongside all of that, Zamari has been a gamer for as long as she can remember. From playing on the VTech V.Smile, to begging her parents to get her an Xbox 360, to now owning a Nintendo Switch 2, there are many games from all sorts of origins that she’s played. Her favorite of them all is Splatoon. In fact, she’s on the Splatoon 3 Cherry team in UNM Esports as well! She mains the Inkbrush, a classic weapon with a lot of mobility. Blink once and she’ll be in your blind spot. WARNING: Mentioning Splatoon around her will cause a Category 5 Autism Event and you will be washed away by the Splatoon lore.
When Zamari joined UNM Esports, it was because she saw the tryout listing for Splatoon on the club’s social media. Turns out, that was the first semester that Splatoon became a team! And in that very semester, she became a part of UNM Esports history, being on the first team to win a national championship! If it weren’t for her then-roommate sharing the post with her, she might have never even known about the UNM Esports club. That’s why she’s the VP of Outgoing Communications now, to make sure that all the fun stuff gets out there so others can make history like her.
Dragon age 2 is a game where your choices from the previous game such as origins transfer over to the decisions you make and whoever you romanced or not. The game is very immersive in both worldbuilding and storytelling and allows you to build your relationships with the companions you meet in the game. The game is enjoyable and the combat system is very flowing and easier to play than the previous game. The more choices you make it affects your companions; some can leave, you can deepen to do their quests and learn about their lore, and you can deepen further into a romance. The game comes from the same company that developed Mass effect franchise and works similarly although Mass effect goes deeper into the choices while dragon age you can edit them through a website and transfer.
Lidia Garcia is the VP Elect of communications and Social Media underneath Zia’s wing learning on how the position works, the responsibilities that comes with the role as being a leader and understanding social media platforms and communication with other departments that revolve around the Esports community. Lidia is an undergraduate student at UNM focusing on Film and Digital arts, concentrating on animation. Being born in Laredo and near the border, Lidia spent high school in Laredo as well focusing on her passion for art and animation with her love for anime and different animated media. During her high school years, Lidia has been dreaming of creating her own animated series whether it's anime or just modern animation; she plans to work on her craft at UNM and make the series a reality. Despite being in UNM esports, Lidia tends to be in her dorm watching anime, drawing, homework, and spends time playing video games such as Death Stranding and Zenless Zone Zero. Lidia’s favorite game is Dragon Age 2 because she loves worldbuilding, lore, and the romance that one, reminds her she is single and two, It makes her happy to see her character she created make these choices and what companion to romance so she can enjoy how the story goes until the end.
Lidia is very skilled in social media and communicating to what is needed for the UNM Esports. Her experience comes from posting on social media, working on her channel, and her love to help others and communicate on what is needed to make Esports shine! If you have any questions regarding social media/ communication related topics, Reach out! >_<
Isaac Quezada is the Website Admin and helps out with the Production, Social Media, and Event teams. He is a Computer Engineering Graduate student at UNM, focusing on computer architecure and design. Despite being born in Iowa, he grew up in Indiana and spend High School in Missouri. While in middle school computer class, he started programming and now works as a professional software engineer. Even though he is a prominent member in UNM Esports, he doens't spend much time playing video games. Instead, he prefers to spend his time hanging out with friends and going on walks.
Isaac's favorite game for the past many years has been Hollow Knight. He is the coordinator and the only member of the Hollow Knight Silksong team here at UNM Esports. Even though he hasn't completed a full playthrough of the game, he is undoubtedly the best at the game. Clock in a total of 300+ hours of Hollow Knight gameplay, his incredible skills easly switch over to Silksong. Hes the guy to talk to if you have any questions about HKSS or UNM Esports Production.
When Isaac joined UNM Esports, he naturally gravitated to the Production team. He has years of experience in production, including running the lights and sound for highschool assemblys and theater shows. As an engineering student, he has spend time at university studying how the production systems work. If you've got any questions about video producion or technology, Isaacs the guy to talk to!
The UNM Esports Production Team is in charge of running the twitch stream for the largest collegiate twitch account in New Mexico. We also run and stream events locally, like NMTIE, a Rocket League tournament, as well as the NMAA High School State Finals. Aside from local events, we try to stream all of our competitive games and our own fun ideas on the side, like our 24 hour charity livestream with Extra Life.
Evan Floyd is the VP of Production and in charge of the team. From Albuquerque, he is a third-year Film major, and helps out with events and social media when he's not stressing about his own team. Competitively, he plays for our Team Fortress 2 and Overwatch 2 teams. Evan's current fascination when it comes to gaming is the hit series Yakuza or Like A Dragon, and has a goal to complete all the games before the end of the school year. That doesn't take time away from his favorite games, as Team Fortress 2 was his frst shooter and stuck with him for over a decade with the Persona series coming in a close second.
Evan joined UNM Esports after hearing about the production team from a couple people already in the club, and has spent the time, energy, and tears into making it the best possible team it can be.
Sky Meehan is the Content Creator Officer and Halo Coordinator, and does stuff with Production, Social Media, and Events (Sky is the goat for all the Tryout Graphics since they joined the club). They are a Secondary Education Major Student, with a degree in Associative arts in Film. Sky is connected to Halo in more ways than one, from being introduced to it by their brother at the age of 4, and continuing to play it since. Sky and Halo are the same age (25), and continue to have the connection of family and brotherhood that not a lot of people have with Halo.
When Sky joined UNM Esports, they were still finishing up their film degree at CNM. But when Sky finally transferred over, they joined different parts of the club, Social Media, Production, Events, and even the Halo Team, spearheading the new Halo Team after its absence from the Club.
